What is mediation?

Mediation is a process of resolving disputes to the satisfaction of everyone involved, in which an impartial person (the Mediator) helps the parties to find a mutually acceptable solution.

It is based on the principle that parties work together to find a solution in which both sides win something and can continue to communicate in the future. This is in contrast to the Court process, which tends to heighten tensions between the parties and destroy any chance of a future relationship, whether that is a business relationship or an ongoing relationship as parents of children. It can be used to resolve any kind of dispute whether legal or inter-personal.
